# How it works

What we record, what the numbers mean, and how often the catalog updates.

## What we watch

We read Ring’s public Appstore catalog. Names, prices, and the metrics below come from what Ring makes public.

## What the numbers are

**Clicks · 30 days:** how often people opened the app’s store listing in the last 30 days, as Ring reports it.

**Accounts linked · 30 days:** how often someone linked the app to a Ring account in that window, as Ring reports it.

**Link rate:** account links divided by clicks for that window (click-to-link). On the catalog, a rate with fewer than 50 clicks is shown faded (“few clicks”). The percentage is still the rate Ring published.

**Monthly revenue ceiling:** accounts linked in that window times the monthly price on the listing, when both are numbers Ring published. It is a ceiling, not revenue Ring reported. A linked account is not a confirmed paying subscriber. Many prices are per device; the ceiling still multiplies the published monthly amount by linked accounts only. Free has no monthly dollar price, so the ceiling stays a dash. If the price says “Paid” or is missing, the catalog says “price not published” and does not fill in a dollar amount.

## How often it updates

We update about once a day around 8am Central. Until then you see the latest catalog we have.

## Rolling windows and day-to-day changes

Ring’s clicks, account links, and link rate are **rolling 30-day windows**. On [Changes](/changelog/), we compare consecutive daily snapshots of those reported numbers, so a delta is the day-to-day change of Ring’s 30-day figures, not a single-day count. A day whose snapshot matches the previous Ring payload says so. A day in that timeline with no snapshot is marked missing.

## Companions

Companion store matches appear when we’ve re-observed them on public storefronts (Play first) and joined by homepage domain, seller, or a verified seed, never by title alone. Play install figures stay published ranges. Until then that page simply shows nothing yet.

## Agent-readable surfaces

Prefer [/llms.txt](/llms.txt) for a curated map, Markdown via `Accept: text/markdown` (or `text/x-markdown`), or `/index.md`-style paths. Same Ring-reported fields and listing details only.
